Cheese tea sandwiches recipe
This recipe is rich enough for an autumn tea party, but is also delicious all year long.
Ingredients:
Makes 8 sandwiches
Choose one crisp apple like Fuji, core and peel it, then slice very thin.
Dip the slices in the juice of one lemon, and refrigerate.
Choose your favorite very sharp cheddar (either white or yellow), refrigerate first, then slice very thin.
In a bowl, mix together:
2 ounces cream cheese
2 tablespoons spiced apple jam or jelly
Pinch of powdered cloves
Then using:
4 slices thin white bread
Spread the cream cheese mixture on one side of all 4 slices of bread.
Next:
Arrange the sliced cheddar on 2 of the slices of bread with cream cheese.
Note: Some cheddars may crumble. If so, you may want to process the cheddar with some extra cream cheese until it can hold its shape.
Drain or pat the apple slices dry, and arrange them on the bread slices.
Top with the remaining 2 slices of bread.
Remove the crusts using a long thin sharp knife.
Cut the sandwiches into quarters diagonally.
Makes 8 servings.
Tea food pairing
Serve with almost any daily green tea, including Gunpowder and any of the Senchas.
Enjoy!
