How many calories in grapes?
There are 60 calories in one and a half cups of grapes weighing 80 grams according to the CDC.
There is no sodium, fat, or cholesterol, and only 1 gram of protein.
There are 14 grams of carbohydrates and 12 of those are sugars.
There is only one gram of dietary fiber.
Vitamins and minerals are low and Vitamin C is only 15% of daily value.
However, the dark purple varieties like Concord are a rich source of polyphenols, including anti-aging resveratrol.
Choosing ripe grapes
Each grape should be firm, plump, and securely attached to its stem in the bunch.
Watch out for damaged ones that will rapidly become moldy.
They can be stored for a few days with refrigeration.
Many retailers will allow people to sample one for sweetness.
Varieties come with seeds like Concord or seedless like Thompson, and in many colors including black, purple, blue, green, yellow, pink, red, and white.
Eating fresh or prepared
Make sure you wash your grapes before using.
They may be eaten fresh and used in fruit salads, tarts, or as a garnish for a cheese appetizer.
You can add them to curries, or poultry, pork, and seafood side dishes.
You can make them into jams, jellies, juices, and freeze them for a summer snack.
And of course, people make an enormous variety of wines from the grape.
